Hello!

Mary is a licensed esthetician currently based in Hagerstown, MD.

Before becoming licensed in esthetics, she earned her BS in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Vermont where she specialized in Herbalism. Upon graduating, she became a beauty buyer and educator for pioneers of natural beauty before bringing it all together to offer hands-on treatments and consultations. She is the founder of the workshop series Skin Food, an interactive event series that educates communities on how to use plants internally and topically for radiant health that shows.

Mary is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition at NUNM to expand her scope of practice and deepen her understanding of biochemistry, immunology, and the pathophysiology of disease in the human body. She has experience working with patients with disordered eating behaviors and expertise in the gut microbiome. Nutrition is not a one size fits all and her advanced clinical training allows her to co-create an evidence based plan with each client that honors their individual needs, goals, cultural practices, time, and budget.

With six years of esthetics under her belt, her practice is truly integrative and holistic, treating the client as a whole. She focuses on educating individuals and empowering them to understand their body and their largest organ, the skin, not just the products they put on it.

Skin Food

Skin Food began as a seasonal event series highlighting five herbs to work with internally and topically to feel well inside and out through each season. As demand grew, I began focusing on the most accessible and safe to use plants that anyone could begin working with to experience their benefits, regardless of the season.

The workshops are approximately two hours and include time for questions and discussion. I bring each herb for attendees to see, smell, touch, and taste both dried and prepared as a tea. I have customized the plants included in workshops to better highlight ingredients used in topical formulas when partnering with a skincare brand to host for consumers or professionals. Both communities can learn more about the benefits of plants they are working with in this setting and are able to apply their knowledge immediately. E-mail to collaborate on a workshop in your space or as part of your brand education.
